Doppler Non-Contact Solid Flow Switch

Get a solid flow rate without physical contact!

The Doppler Non-Contact Solid Flow Switch is a reliable, advanced solution for monitoring the flow of solid materials in pipes or conveyors without any physical contact. Using Doppler technology, it detects flow changes in powders, granules, and other solid materials for smooth operations and prevent blockages. It is perfect for usage in conditions where there is a risk of cross contamination of ingredients or threat of combustible dust.

How It Works

It works by emitting a low-power microwave signal towards the material it’s monitoring. Part of this signal bounces back to the antenna of the Doppler Flow Switch. This reflected signal combines with the emitted signal to produce a “beat frequency,” which is the difference in frequency between the two signals.

If the material is not moving, the reflected signal matches the original signal, and no frequency difference (or beat frequency) is created. However, if the material is moving, the reflected signal changes in frequency due to the Doppler effect, creating a beat frequency. The switch detects this frequency difference to determine whether there is flow or no flow.
